On a warm and sunny Sunday afternoon at Vigo Park, Cindy McLaughline saw off all competitors to win the Bradley Memorial Trophy.

The Trophy - which is a one-day competition open all women bowlers at the Club in a series of singles matches - took place on 24 August.

Each bowler saw four games during the day in two leagues of well-fought competition with some close games. The semi-finalists were the top and next-best placed competitor in each league, with semi-final one seeing Jackie Kingston take on Lesley Taylor; with semi-final two seeing Cindy McLaughlin matched against Shirley Stoten. Lesley and Cindy made it through to the final, with Cindy clinching the win on the very last end.

Cindy writes: 'Big "thank you"s go to Cynthia Hamilton for her hard work in organising the competition, and dealing with a curve ball with two late dropouts requiring a redraw of the competiiton: not easy to do on the hoof when you're also competing! Big thanks also go to David Hamiton and to Rob Furniss for also stepping forward as markers on the day; and to all the Club members who came out in support.'

Among all our women bowlers, Cindy and Shirley in particular are having excellent bowling seasons: they take on each other again this coming Saturday at 3pm in the final of the Women's Championship, for the Howard Cup; while at 10am Cindy takes on Sue Milton in the final of the Eason Cup for the Two Wood Singles. Do come along on Finals Day and watch some high quality bowls: there are seven finals taking place during the course of the day, with everything kicking off at 10am. Full schedule has been advertised to all members and is also listed in our Clubhouse diary, accessible via the home page.
