With a magnificent 4-1 win (51-39) away at unpredictable Aldmaston Elms last night, Andover Acorns have not only confirmed their promotion from Division 4 of the Whitchurch and District League, they are going up as champions!

This was Acorns' last match of the season but, while there is another round of fixtures remaining, Acorns have a 5.5-point lead at the top of the league over Oakley Kites in second, and thus cannot be caught whatever happens next week. Acorns will thus play in Division 3 of the league next year alongside Andover Stags and Andover Eagles. It's a title that is fully deserved: Acorns rose to the top of the leaue in the fourth week of the season and have been there ever since. Who will go up with them is a question for next week - Kites have an advantage of just a single point over third-placed Friary and both teams are away - Oakley Kites at Aldermaston Elms, Friary at Marnell Royals who are currently in last place though level on points with the team above them..

In only the team's second season since their formation, Acorns, under team captain Andy Brown, have done superbly well and everyone at the Club is both delighted for Andy and proud of all the members of the team. A hearty 'well done' everyone!
