We mentioned in yesterday's news release about the Bradley Memorial Trophy that several women at the Club are having particularly good seasons. Two more are Lesley Taylor and Jackie Kingston, who met in the semi-finals of the Bradley Memorial Trophy, Lesley emerging triumphant on that occasion, who have both also been representing Hampshire.

This year, Bowls England introduced a new mixed inter-county team event for the over 60s, which is being run as a knockout competition (unlike the Johns Trophy (for women) and Middleton Cup (for men) which are run on a round robin league basis).

Hampshire's first game was against Wiltshire, with the team including both Jackie and Lesley, followed by a match against the Isle of Wight (Jackie was again selected but had to pull out due to illness) and then the team went on to play, and beat, Surrey.

After three wins, Hampshire have advanced to the semi-finals at the National Championships, which took place at Leamington Spa on 29 August. Lesley, who has featured in all three wins in the Cup run so far, has once more been selected to play while Jackie is a non-travelling reserve (having only played the one game). The team sheets for each game are avalable at the Bowls Hampshire website (scroll down the red menu items to the left and this competition is third up from the bottom).

Hampshire played Worcestershire in the semi-final, and won; but unfortunately were not able to overcome Northants in the final, played the same day. Nevertheless, Lesley emerged from the day with a silver medal: congratulations to both Lesley and Jackie on their selections; and well done Lesley on winning a silver - the whole Club is proud of you!

Updated 30/8 to document the outcome of the semi-final and to add details of the final.
