Hot Shot corner
This page reports the success of Club members who have scored a 'hotshot' - all their bowls being nearer to the jack at the conclusion of an end than the nearest one of the opponents in a competitive pairs, triples or fours match. This qualifies the bowlers as members of a fairly exclusive club!
Originally launched by Bowls International magazine more than 20 years ago, the Hot Shots Club offers a certificate or achievement recognising the feat, signed by 15 times world champion Tony Allcock, as well as lapel badges and bowls stickers.
In the last couple of seasons, Andover Bowling Club members who have joined the Hot Shots Club include:
2025
Cathy Hopwood and Elainne Piper, in a match against a pair from Romsey Abbey.
2026
30 May: Jackie Kingston, Nickie Furniss, Jenny Guy and Lesley Taylor in a Thornbery Trophy match against Hyde Abbey A (won 36-4)
16 June: Simon Leadbetter and Trevor Crago, in a pairs match which they went on to win 20-19 (after being 15-3 down after 9 ends immediately prior to the hotshot!).
