WELCOME TO ANDOVER BOWLING CLUB
Welcome to our website. We hope you can find everything you need to know about us by clicking on the Navigation Tabs above. However, if there is something more you'd like to know, please get in touch by clicking on the "Join Us" tab above.
Our bowling green opens in early April and closes mid-September; this enables us to work on it over the winter to make it one of the best in our area.
Last year we had two Open Days, one specifically for the club to increase our membership and the other as part of Bowls England's 'Bowls Big Weekend'. Both days were very well attended, with people of ages coming to try the game. With the help and encouragement of our coaches and members, they all enjoyed the time they had with us, so much so that quite a few signed up on the day.
We hold a weekly Club Roll-Up Night, held on Tuesday evenings (5.30 for 5.45) which is very popular with our members. We also have club competitions throughout the season and play in friendly games with other clubs, both home and away. Over the last few years we have been very fortunate to have many new members, and we've laid on extra learning/practice sessions with experienced bowlers especially for them.
We currently have 2 ladies', 4 men's and 5/6 mixed teams playing every week during the summer, in the Basingstoke, Salisbury and Whitchurch leagues. These matches are usually in the evenings with the exception of two mixed leagues, one on Thursday afternoons, the other on Saturday mornings, and some ladies games which also take place in the afternoons.
Whether you are an experienced bowler or completely new to the sport, and whether you'd prefer to play in more competitive or more recreational matches, you will receive a very warm welcome at Andover Bowling Club. We want you to get the most out of bowls and enjoy the game.
Our President's Day in July 2023 was very well attended by almost 50 members and, additionally, spectators. Dave Corbett, our club president, chose Naomi House Children’s Hospice as his Charity, and £566 was raised. Thanks went to everyone involved in making the day run so smoothly and successfully.
The day was sponsored by Mark & Trudy Slade, of Flamed Earth Ceramics, who donated some generous prizes.
